About the book
Hello, everybody! It’s lovely to be back again, this time with a Carers’ Day Out Discovery Book. I hope you all enjoyed reading the workshop.
Together, we’ll have fun following little Dot, her grandparents, and Ellie-Bell, their therapy dog. We’ll discover how they connect with Mum, who has passed away, and find out about all their efforts to keep the conversation flowing.
Ellie-Bell leads little Dot, who in turn leads her grandparents, and they all learn together, as a family, how to strengthen their bond and grow together as one.

Sam’s Story
‘Crocheting and dogs as therapy’!
For the book launch, my friend Sam offered to crochet these, which I’m sure you all agree are just lovely!
Sam uses crocheting as her therapy and following a stroke in 2025 taught herself how to do it all again, learning to adapt and putting all her efforts into her favourite past time.
Digging deep and channelling all her positive energy into her craft has become the way forward for Sam who’s tenacity and amazing personality have guided her through a rocky period in her life.
Her little dogs are her lifeline, and have enabled Sam to turn her life around with their unconditional love and boundless energy! It never ceases to amaze me how much a dog can change your life.
Thank you Sam, for your friendship and amazing crochet skills, it’s lovely to share the launch with you!

‘What can I say about Georgie Maia’, it has a lovely ring to it, I’m sure you’ll agree!
Georgie kindly agreed to colour it my drawings for the book and has used her graphic design knowledge to make the drawings come to life!
I was overwhelmed to see them start to appear and it really has been a privilege to work with such an inspiring artist!

'Every Carer Story Matters'
The Carers day out workshop has a page called ‘What the Carers say’ where you can read the Carers thoughts and experiences whilst working through the workshop. This has proved to be a lovely resource and so I thought I’d do it again with the discovery book.
The page is called ‘Every Carers story matters’ and you can get involved by simply emailing me on the contact page and include your own story, thoughts and feelings whilst reading through the discovery book. In the hope that it will encourage others to share theirs.
